Dogs and Cats

I have more animal paintings than these but I will do good to publish these.  Can't wait until I get famous enough to have my own assistant to do all these kind of jobs, plus framing and cleaning up.  Anyway animals are great fun to do them both in oils or pastel.  
They do enrich our life so much; they are Gods blessing to us.  It is a shame that everybody does not recognize it.

A smathering of Portaits

Playing with the Blog and trying to figure it out.  I have done it before, but who knows how; trying to put the copy on the left side of the picture. Anyway I thought I would post a few portraits, some done from totally from life, some done from a combination; have fun guessing. 

 

 

 

The Gathering

I was at a party last night and somebody said how they loved my Geese Painting.  I realized I never posted my duck painting, which was done around the same time, so I thought I would for all my ducky friends!  This one is a pastel.

Some samples of Palette Knife Work

Just wanted to show you some of my palette knife works.  I have used a palette knife to do landscapes, mainly plein air panting.  Once you relax with a palette knife, you can really get creative, and turn out some interesting works.


Title of this one is "A Light Bloom" a 9x12 oil, painted with just a pallet knife.



"Candle  of Life" 9x12 oil, just done with a palette knife.

"Louisville Clown" all was done with a palette knife.

"Reflections"  was a palette knife done from a live model on a prepared background, that was done with a brush.

 

This is a old painting of mine, done with nothing but a palette knife; I put it in because you can see how much fun you can have with a more complicated composition using a palette knife. 

 

Inspired Watercolors

"A Sensible Thought"

These two watercolors I really tried different things, which I really liked how they came out.  Influenced a lot by Mary Whyte, her watercolors are very inspiring.  

"So Dies the Youth"

A watercolor from Romeo and Juliet.

"Foreseeing Future"

This is the first phase.  The set up was with a white cloth, but I wanted to change the color.  to set the cloth future back.



Then I played around with a pattern on the material, but it wasn't hitting it.


This is the finishing phase of "Foreseeing Future."  You can see everything had been tweaked with a different background.  This is an oil, 20x24. 

One thing I find, which I think is interesting, I know when a painting is finished.  I guess it is from experience.   Sometimes thou, it takes awhile before you know if it is really a success to you.  I am talking about your enter being; that is the whole purpose of creating.  Just Saying!
